D'Ussé Cocktail Bar
You know that when StudioA works on a project, you are guaranteed a stunning space - whatever it is. Tristan Du Plessis has designed a space in central Johannesburg for leading cognac brand D’Ussé.
The experience begins at street level with security opening the door of your Uber, and ushering you through the foyer to the elevators to take you to the top floor. Of course, you are greeted by a leggy model, that checks you off the list and welcomes you to the D’Ussé Cocktail Bar. Located on the rooftop of Hallmark House, you feel like you’ve been transported into a swanky bar in Brooklyn, New York. You walk through the graffiti Instagram ready tunnel, and then into the sexy area filled with art on the walls and eclectic furniture pieces everywhere. It still shocks me that there are few roof top bars in Johannesburg. The iconic Jozi skyline creates the perfect backdrop for the hot new haunt in the CBD.
Now, Joburg has a skewed view of the definition of a ‘bar’ - If you have you pay entrance, there is a dance floor and loud music - that is a club, not a bar. The only other place that has the best cocktails and is the true definition of a bar, is The Landmark in Bryanston. Cape Town has great bar culture. So I am glad that D’Ussé has created this chic and hip hot spot, in Johannesburg. Sexy house lounge music is the soundtrack, great decor, and a beverage selection that include’s Jay-Z and Bacardi’s signature brand D’Ussé with wide variety of drinks. The bar is open on Friday and Saturday evenings, with Sundays giving you a delicious all-day brunch from 110h00.
You better hurry, cause the D’Ussé Cocktail Bar will be there until 12th January 2020. So, if you are in Jozi over the festive season, this is one place you have to go to. The D’USSÉ Pop-Up Cocktail Bar at Hallmark House is located at 54 Siemert Rd, New Doornfontein, Johannesburg
