MCQP 2019 - Love Ball - 21 December

Aaahhh…I remember my first MCQP like it was yesterday. What a fun magical time. Back then, the theme was Royal Navy. Obviously my friends and I would not go as sailors which most opted for, we went as the Royal Princes that we are. It was show-stopping. I even had a sceptor.

This year’s theme is the Love Ball. Yes, generic, but you can do a lot with the theme. I tried to go on to the website for more of an explanation, however the website is down. I am however, very confused with the description of dress code in the video: “ladies in sequin bustiers, jewel encrusted sweatbands, drag queens in feathered rugby gear and scrum caps.” How did rugby make it into the theme? I know if I would attend, I would need Rihanna’s YSL heat coat. Is sport in there, because of the word “ball”? That is a reach henny! The video has Madonna’s “Vogue” playing, but will there be voguing? Why didn’t they incorporate the ball room scene? The category is: very confused. But, rest assured, the venue is a good one as it has been done at the Cape Town Stadium before. I know friends that have attended MCQP at the Cape Town Stadium, and they said it was one of the better venues. Venue plays a very big role in MCQP. I remember one of the last MCQP I went to it was so windy…like uncomfortable windy, and the venue was in town. I’ve heard the stadium was a great pick…it’s enclosed, and easy to navigate.

What I do love about the event is that there are different dance floors that caters to every genre of music, which is great. It’s happening in peak season 21st December, so plenty of time to get your outfit ready. Have fun kids and send me pics!
